Region XI Youth

In 2012 Region XI proudly offers a scholarship opportunity to either a high school senior or a continuing education student.  One scholarship in the amount of $1000 is available to be awarded to a high school senior OR a continuing education student attending a two or four year college or university for advancement of their education and who is currently a member of the Arabian Horse Association through a Region XI club.  This scholarship may be awarded to a student only once during a student’s school career.  Please take advantage of this opportunity to supplement your college funding.  Applications may be received by contacting Ann Hammer, Scholarship Chair, at 12154 Rose Road, Trenton, IL 62293-4640, or by downloading the application from the Region XI website.  All applications must be requested or downloaded by the April 15, 2011 application request deadline.  All application materials must be submitted together in one envelope by May 1, 2010 to be considered for an award.

Region XI Youth Scholarships available                                                top

Region XI is proud to offer two educational scholarships each year.  The high school senior scholarship is offered for those graduating from high school during the 2009– 2010 school year.  It is available to any high school senior who is currently a member of any Region XI affiliated club.  Applications may be received by contacting Ann Hammer, Scholarship Chair, at 12154 Rose Road, Trenton, IL 62293-4640, or by downloading the application from the Region XI website.  All applications must be requested or downloaded by the April 15, 2010 application request deadline. All applications must be submitted by May 1, 2010 to be considered for an award.

Dottie Ross Arabian Horse Memorial Scholarship                                    top

Purpose-To financially assist a graduating High School Senior in beginning his or her college career or assist a college student continuing his or her college career.
Qualifications- 1. 2012 High School Graduate or College Student and be of good moral character. 
                      2. Student to enroll in either a 2 or 4 year college or University. 
                      3. Must ride/show or own an Arabian Horse.
                      4. Write a 500-1000 word Essay on “How my Arabian has Influenced my Life.”
Selection Criteria - Applications and Essay will be assessed by the Board of Directors of The Memorial Fund and a final selection will be made.
Deadline for 2010 Applicants will be August 1, 2012

Region XI Youth Team Tournament Rules                                            top

  1. Competition is open to all youth members in good standing with Region XI and IAHYA.
  2. Eligible horse must be a registered Purebred or Half-Arabian.  All horse and rider points will count only after nomination form has beenreceived by Region II Youth Director.   No points earned prior to nomination will count. (post mark will count as received).
  3. Points must be mailed no later than thirty days from last day of the show you wish counted.
  4. Entry fee is $5.00 per class/division to be entered. (Please make checks payable to Region I I Youth High Point).
  5. In the divisions for Purebreds, only the JTR/JOTR classes will count.  AOTR or open points will count, except for Half-Arabians, AOTR will count.
  6. Class "A" Shows and local Shows are eligible along with Regional and National Shows, see the report form on how to count points.
  7. All points will be totaled by December 31.
The Regional youth team tournament program offers youth of each Region the opportunity to compete in shows and rides while developing a feeling of camaraderie and sportsmanship. Team points are accumulated throughout the year with awards being presented to the high scoring youth team in each region. Only shows held INSIDE the region count, with Nationals excluded. Region XI Youth High Point Program                                                        top

The Region XI Youth High Point Program was developed to recognize and encourage the continued participation of our Region XI Youth members.
RULES
1.  The program is open to both youth members of all Region XI clubs who own or lease Arabians and Half-Arabians.
2.  Enrollment and Program Fees. Youth members wishing to enroll in the 2008 Region XI Youth High Point Program should send an enrollment form for each horse-rider pair along with $5/horse-rider pair to the address below (Liz Rogan). 
3.  Reporting Results. Youth members who have enrolled in the 2008 Region XI Youth High Point Program may use copies of the enrollment form or in the text of an email (to Liz Rogan) to report their results in horse shows taking place during the 2008 calendar year (January through December). Members may submit results from 1 March, 2008 through 31 December 2008. All results must be received no later than December 31, 2008, in order to be counted.
4.  Reportable classes are youth classes only, except in the event of championships in which no junior classes are offered; in this case, amateur classes will apply.

a.  AHA Recognized Division. This division is open to any Arabian or Half-Arabian horse, rider-horse combination competing in a Region XI qualifying show held within the region which includes shows held in Illinois, Iowa & Missouri. Reportable results for this division may include 1) Class “A” or “B” competitions, 2) Results from the Region XI Championship Show, and 3) AHA Youth Nationals.

b.  Non-AHA Recognized Division. Open to any Arabian or Half-Arabian horse, rider-pair competing inside Region XI in any show not recognized by AHA. Shows that qualify for this division include 1) State or County Fairs, 2) All Breed shows, 3) Fun or Schooling shows. NOTE: Morab and NSH only classes will not count.

5.  All results must be sent in by the exhibitor via regular mail (United States Postal Service) or email within 30 days of the show.

a.  There are no exceptions to this deadline.

b.  It is the sole responsibility of the exhibitor to send in his or her results. The program coordinator will not be checking with show secretaries to obtain results.

7.  All exhibitors entering the Region XI Youth High Point Program are assumed to have knowledge and understanding of the above rules and point system.
8.  Awards will be made to the Champion, Reserve Champion & Top Five in each division. Standings will be posted on the Region XI website on a monthly basis

Region XI Youth 4-H High Point Program                                                top

Region XI Arabian Horse Association is proud to announce the very first high point award for your efforts in 4-H. All 4-H members riding registered Arabian or Half-Arabian horses will qualify for this award. A beautiful plaque and ribbon have been donated for this award by Region XI in appreciation of your dedication and hard work for the Arabian horse. The award will be presented at your state 4-H show by your Arabian Horse Association Youth Director Kim Luebcke and your Youth Coordinator Barb Bailey. 
To become a winner of this award:
                  1.  You must be a 4-H member in good standing. 
                  2.  You must show a registered Arabian or Half-Arabian horse.
                  3.  You must be a member of Arabian Horse Association.
                  4.  Only 4-H classes will count. (Any horse show with 4-H
                       classes will qualify.)
                  5.  Only official class lists from the show, signed by the show 
                       secretary, which shows your placing, will be accepted as
                                           proof.
                  6.  Dates are from January 1, 2007 through October 1, 2007.
